What is the difference between duplication and replication and which one should I choose?

A.

Duplicated CDs are created using CD Recordables or CD-Rs. A CD-R is simply a blank disc that can be laser burned (recorded) with a CD/DVD recorder or computer burner. A replicated disc is the actual manufacturing of a CD or DVD. The process includes creation of a glass master that is stamped onto the CD in the form of tiny pits that your CD player can read. Duplicated CD-Rs are generally used for smaller runs of 500 or less. Replicated CDs are generally more cost effective if you plan on purchasing 500 and upwards. Please contact us directly if you have more questions or need help determining which choice is right for you.

Q?

What is the difference between CD Text and Gracenote CDDB?

A.

CD Text is the ability to store information such artist names, album info and song titles on a physical CD. CD Text will only display on compatible devices that can read the information such as your car stereo. CD Text can only be added during the mastering stage of your disc and cannot be added once your CD is duplicated or replicated. Internet Database more commonly known as ID3 Tags also known as CDDB stores the information in an online database. This information is only accessed when you are using an internet capable player such as Windows Media or iTunes. When you place your CD into an internet compatible player, the player matches information from the CD with the internet database and if a match is found it will display album title, name, etc.
